The Cross Revealed

God has given us all that we need to lead a life pleasing to Him. We abandon confidence in ourselves or other men, and cast ourselves on Jesus, "The author and finisher of our faith".

Maui Revival

There has been some buzz in the church here about Hawaii becoming a "Christian State". A great wave of revival is coming, they say. Of course, there is no definitive way to test their prophecy. What would a "Christian State" look like? Can a state be "Christian"? Did our LORD die for a political entity?

We look back in history to a time when Hawaii, and America, were populated by men who feared God, and ordered their lives, and their countries, accordingly. Those were days of prosperity, for "Blessed is the people whose God is the LORD" (Psalm 33:2).  But neither America, nor Hawaii, were ever "Christian" because no political union is "Christian". HOWEVER . . .  When the majority of the people in a nation are God fearing, and just, then that nation will be blessed.

In the sixties they used to sing, "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me". I would encourage those who want to see a "Christian State" to begin by looking in a mirror, that mirror being the Word of God (Psalm 139). God cannot save a nation, but "If my people, who are called by my Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, then I will hear from Heaven, and heal their land" II CH. 7:14. Let their be revival, LORD, and let it begin with me.
