The Cross Revealed

God has given us all that we need to lead a life pleasing to Him. We abandon confidence in ourselves or other men, and cast ourselves on Jesus, "The author and finisher of our faith".

The Great Reset

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises that by these ye might be partakers of the Divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust" I Peter 1:4

Not a few souls have pondered, near the end of their walk here on Earth, what might have been. We look back at the fruit of our lives and see that we had been given so much, and ended up doing so very little. I know I do. When our computers stop working, we sometimes can fix them by powering down and resetting them. We might wish to to the same with our lives. Of course we can't do this. Even if we could, though, would anything really be different?

I read one of Oswald Chambers' entries in My Utmost for His Highest yesterday. He was saying that we often think of our purpose being what we are here on earth to go do. Once we clear all the hurdles, breaking through the resistances to our goal, then we will have accomplished our purpose. Hold on, brothers, he says. No, the resistance we face is ITSELF what God is interested in. For when, by the force of circumstances that we have no ability to overcome or control, we cry out to God for help, praising Him always, we ourselves are adding proven character. This is God's economy. This is what He is always doing in every undesired situation.

How might our prayer life be different if we understood this? Instead of asking God to save us from the mess we find ourself in, might instead we pray, "Not my will, but Thine"?

"Lord Jesus, you know me. You know when I sit down, and when I stand up. I do not know what is in my heart, but you do. Nothing is hidden from Thee. I trust you. I love you. I thank you for the impassable mountain in front of me. Amen."
